Product Safety FAQ

Products sold by LUXX COSMETIC are sourced from trusted suppliers and are intended to meet the safety, labelling and product requirements applicable to their category and intended market.

Cosmetic products placed on the EU market must undergo a safety assessment and must be safe under normal or reasonably foreseeable conditions of use.

However, no product can be guaranteed to be suitable for every person. Individual allergies, sensitivities, medical conditions, incorrect use and the combination of several products can affect how someone responds.

Always follow the instructions and warnings supplied with the product.

LUXX COSMETIC does not claim to independently laboratory-test every product in its assortment.

Product testing, safety assessment and regulatory documentation are generally handled by the manufacturer, brand, responsible person or other relevant operator in the supply chain.

As a retailer, LUXX COSMETIC works with trusted suppliers and relies on product information, documentation and traceability provided through the supply chain.

Contact us through our Contact page if you have a concern about a particular product.

Yes. LUXX COSMETIC sells authentic products sourced through trusted suppliers.

Suppliers provide product and traceability information relating to the products they supply. Packaging, labels and formula presentation may sometimes change between production batches without affecting authenticity.

Read more on our Product Authenticity page.

Review the information on the product page and the instructions, warnings, symbols and labels supplied with the physical product.

Depending on the product, this may include:

  • Directions for use
  • Age restrictions
  • Allergy warnings
  • Flammability warnings
  • Storage instructions
  • Electrical specifications
  • Manufacturer or responsible-person details
  • Expiry or period-after-opening information

The physical product, packaging and enclosed instructions are the primary source for the specific item and batch you receive.

Follow the information printed on the physical product, packaging or enclosed instructions.

Manufacturers may update formulas, warnings, ingredient lists, instructions or packaging before every retailer image and description has been updated.

Do not use the product if the physical label contains an ingredient or warning that makes it unsuitable for you.

Contact us through our Contact page and provide clear photos of the product, label, ingredient list, barcode and batch information so that we can review the online information.

Yes. Instructions, warnings, age restrictions and suitability can differ between products, even when they are made by the same brand or belong to the same product range.

Do not apply the instructions from one product to another. Always read the information supplied with the exact product and variant you receive.

You can browse the brands currently available from LUXX COSMETIC on our All Brands page.

Use each product only for its intended purpose and follow the manufacturer’s directions.

You should also:

  • Use only the recommended amount and frequency
  • Avoid areas the instructions say to avoid
  • Keep the container clean and properly closed
  • Avoid sharing products that directly contact the eyes, lips or broken skin
  • Wash your hands before applying products where appropriate
  • Stop using a product if it develops an unusual smell, colour or texture
  • Keep products away from children unless specifically intended for child use

Using more of a product than recommended does not necessarily improve the result and may increase irritation.

Introducing one new product at a time can make it easier to identify the cause if irritation or discomfort develops.

Follow the manufacturer’s instructions concerning frequency, application area and combinations with other products.

Products containing exfoliating acids, retinoids, hair-colour ingredients or other active components may have specific directions and warnings.

For ingredient guidance, visit our Beauty Ingredient Library and Ingredients & Allergies FAQ. The library is educational and does not replace the complete product label or professional medical advice.

Follow any test procedure required or recommended by the manufacturer.

A small-area compatibility test may help identify an immediate problem, but it cannot guarantee that a reaction will not occur later.

Some products, particularly hair-colour products, have specific allergy-alert instructions and timing. Follow those instructions exactly rather than creating your own testing method.

Do not test products on broken, inflamed or already irritated skin unless the manufacturer specifically instructs you to do so.

Stop using the product.

Follow any removal, rinsing or first-aid instructions shown on the product. Seek advice from a doctor, dermatologist or pharmacist if symptoms are persistent, worsening, painful or causing concern.

After addressing your immediate health needs, contact us through our Contact page so that the product and reported reaction can be reviewed.

Keep the product, packaging and batch information unless a healthcare professional or authority tells you otherwise.

Follow the first-aid instructions printed on the product.

Contact your local poison information service, doctor or emergency service for advice based on the exact product, amount and type of exposure.

Have the product container, ingredient information and label available when requesting help.

Do not rely on general online advice where the product’s own warning requires a specific response. Once immediate medical needs have been addressed, report the incident through our Contact page.

Please provide:

  • Your order number
  • Complete product name
  • Brand, size and variant
  • A description of what happened
  • When and how the product was used
  • When the symptoms or problem began
  • Photos of the product and packaging
  • A clear photo of the ingredients and warnings
  • Barcode or EAN
  • Batch or lot number
  • Expiry date or period-after-opening symbol
  • Details of any physical damage or leakage

Do not send private medical records through the standard contact form unless we specifically request appropriate information through a suitable process.

No. A product described as suitable for sensitive skin cannot be guaranteed to suit every person.

Individual reactions can occur because of fragrances, preservatives, botanical ingredients, colourants, active ingredients or other parts of the formula.

Review the complete ingredient list on the product packaging before use. Speak with a doctor, dermatologist, allergist or pharmacist if you have a diagnosed allergy, an active skin condition or a history of serious reactions.

See our Ingredients & Allergies FAQ for more information.

No. These descriptions do not guarantee that a product will never cause irritation or an allergic reaction.

They provide information about how the manufacturer has assessed or positioned the product, but individual tolerance can still vary.

Always review the ingredients, warnings and directions supplied with the product.

Check the product label, warnings and manufacturer’s guidance before use.

Suitability can depend on the product type, formula, concentration, area of application and your individual circumstances.

LUXX COSMETIC cannot provide personal medical approval. Ask your doctor, midwife, dermatologist or pharmacist before using a product if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding.

The Beauty Ingredient Library provides general educational information but cannot determine whether a particular product is medically suitable for you.

Use a product on or around a child only when it is intended for that child’s age group and the manufacturer’s instructions permit it.

Follow all age limits, warnings and supervision requirements.

Adult cosmetics, fragrances, concentrated skincare, hair dyes, aerosols and electrical beauty tools may not be suitable for children.

Keep products out of reach of children unless they are specifically designed for supervised child use.

A cosmetic may show either a minimum-durability date or a period-after-opening symbol.

The open-jar symbol is usually followed by a period such as β€œ6M,” β€œ12M” or β€œ24M.” This indicates the recommended number of months the product can be used after it is first opened.

Write down the opening date where helpful, and do not continue using a product beyond the stated period if its safety, stability or performance may have changed.

Follow the storage instructions shown on the product.

Unless the manufacturer states otherwise:

  • Keep the product properly closed
  • Protect it from excessive heat and direct sunlight
  • Avoid unnecessary exposure to moisture
  • Do not freeze it
  • Do not dilute it
  • Do not transfer it into an unclean container
  • Keep applicators and openings clean

Storage requirements may differ for cosmetics, fragrances, aerosols, electrical devices and battery-operated products.

Do not continue using a product if it has developed an unexpected smell, colour, texture, separation, contamination or pressure change.

Some formula variation can be normal, but an unexplained change may indicate deterioration, unsuitable storage or damage.

Contact us through our Contact page and provide the product name, order number, batch information and clear photos.

Do not use the product.

Keep the product, retail packaging, outer parcel, shipping label and protective materials.

Take clear photos showing:

  • The damaged or leaking product
  • The seal or closure
  • The retail packaging
  • The outer parcel
  • The shipping label
  • The batch and barcode information

Contact us through our Contact page before returning or disposing of anything.

For claim and return information, see our Goods & Refunds FAQ and Refund Policy.

Not necessarily.

Manufacturers may change boxes, bottles, seals, labels, logos and promotional packaging. Older and newer versions may be available during a transition period.

Compare the product name, variant, size, barcode, batch information and ingredient list.

Do not use the product if it appears opened, contaminated, incorrectly labelled or substantially different from what you ordered. Contact us through our Contact page.

Read more on our Product Authenticity page.

Follow all flammability and ventilation warnings printed on the product.

Products such as perfumes, hairsprays, deodorant aerosols and nail products may contain flammable ingredients.

Keep them away from flames, sparks, hot surfaces and other ignition sources. Do not puncture, burn or expose pressurised containers to excessive heat.

Use sprays only in the manner and environment permitted by the manufacturer.

Read and follow the complete instructions every time you use a hair-colour product, even if you have used the same brand before.

Observe all age restrictions, mixing instructions, exposure times, glove requirements and allergy warnings.

Do not use a hair-colour product on eyelashes or eyebrows unless the manufacturer expressly states that it is designed for that purpose.

A previous successful use does not guarantee that a later allergic reaction cannot occur. Hair dyes can contain ingredients with sensitising potential.

Follow the manufacturer’s instructions concerning the amount, application time, reapplication and permitted areas of use.

Sunscreen should be used as part of a wider sun-protection routine. Do not rely on sunscreen to provide complete protection or to remain in the sun longer than is safe.

Check whether the product is intended for the face, body, children or another specific use, and avoid inhaling spray products.

EU guidance requires sunscreen labels and claims to provide information that helps consumers select and apply the product correctly.

Read the manufacturer’s instructions before using an electrical product such as a hairdryer, straightener, curling tool, heated brush, shaver or clipper.

You should:

  • Use the correct voltage and approved power supply
  • Keep the product away from water unless expressly designed for wet use
  • Avoid covering ventilation openings
  • Allow heated tools to cool on a suitable surface
  • Keep hot surfaces away from skin and flammable materials
  • Disconnect the product when instructed
  • Keep cables away from hot parts
  • Use only compatible accessories and replacement parts

Stop using the product if it overheats, sparks, smells burnt or shows physical damage.

Check the voltage, frequency, plug type and power requirements shown on the product page, packaging and appliance.

A travel adapter changes the plug shape but does not necessarily convert voltage.

Do not use an appliance where its electrical specifications are incompatible with the local power supply. Contact the manufacturer or a qualified electrician if you are uncertain.

Stop using and charging the product.

Do not use an appliance with:

  • A damaged cable or plug
  • A cracked casing
  • Exposed internal parts
  • Unusual heat
  • Sparks or smoke
  • A burning smell
  • A swollen, leaking or damaged battery

Keep it away from heat and flammable materials. Contact us through our Contact page before returning or disposing of the product.

CE marking applies only to product categories covered by specific EU rules, including many electrical products.

It indicates that the manufacturer declares that the product meets the applicable EU health, safety and environmental requirements.

CE marking is not a LUXX COSMETIC quality award, and it does not apply to every type of product. Cosmetics are governed by their own safety and labelling requirements.

Stop using the affected product and follow the instructions in the notice.

Do not sell, give away or continue using a recalled product.

Keep the product and its batch, barcode and order information available. Contact us through our Contact page if you purchased the affected product from LUXX COSMETIC.

EU authorities exchange information about dangerous non-food products through the Safety Gate system.

Opened or used cosmetic and hygiene-sensitive products normally cannot be returned as a standard change-of-mind return.

A product that may be faulty, contaminated, damaged, incorrectly labelled or otherwise non-compliant is assessed separately.

Stop using it and contact us before returning or disposing of it. Provide your order number, photos, batch information and a description of the concern.

See our Goods & Refunds FAQ and Refund Policy for more information.

We do not describe every product or brand in our assortment as cruelty-free.

Animal-testing policies and certifications are product- and brand-specific. Only rely on a cruelty-free claim when it is specifically stated and supported for the relevant product or brand.

You can browse brands through our All Brands page and read more in our Ingredients & Allergies FAQ.

Animal-testing status does not by itself determine whether a product is suitable for a particular person or allergy.
