Ingredients & Allergies FAQ

Ingredient information is displayed on many LUXX COSMETIC product pages under the product description or ingredients section.

You should also check the ingredient list printed on the product, box, label or accompanying leaflet before use. The information on the physical product is the most current information for the specific formula and batch you receive.

If ingredient information is not available online, contact us through our Contact page before placing your order.

EU cosmetic rules require cosmetic ingredients to be shown on the product packaging or accompanying information.

Rely on the ingredient list printed on the product or its packaging.

Manufacturers may update formulations, ingredient names, suppliers, packaging or labelling without immediately changing every image or description used by retailers.

Do not use the product if the packaging lists an ingredient you need to avoid. Contact us through our Contact page and include photos of the product, ingredients, barcode and batch information.

Our Terms explain that product information may be updated and can vary because of supplier information or production batches.

INCI refers to the standardised names used to identify cosmetic ingredients.

An INCI list may use scientific, botanical or internationally recognised names rather than everyday names. For example, water may appear as “Aqua,” and a plant ingredient may be shown using its botanical name.

You can use our Beauty Ingredient Library to learn about commonly used cosmetic ingredients.

The European Commission’s CosIng database provides information about standard cosmetic ingredient names, but the presence of a name in the database does not by itself mean that the ingredient is approved for every cosmetic use.

Our Beauty Ingredient Library provides general information about commonly used skincare, haircare, sunscreen and cosmetic ingredients.

It may explain:

  • What an ingredient is
  • Why it is used
  • The types of products in which it may appear
  • General compatibility considerations
  • Common usage cautions

The library is educational. It does not describe the complete formula of a particular product and does not replace the product label, manufacturer’s instructions or advice from a qualified healthcare professional.

Not by itself.

A product’s suitability depends on its complete formula, ingredient concentrations, how it is used, your skin or hair, existing sensitivities and the other products in your routine.

An individual ingredient may behave differently depending on the complete formulation.

Use the library as a starting point, then review the product’s complete ingredient list and usage instructions.

We can help you locate the ingredient information supplied with the product or provided by the manufacturer or supplier.

Contact us through our Contact page and include:

  • The complete product name
  • Brand
  • Size and variant
  • Product-page link
  • Barcode or EAN, where available
  • The exact ingredient you are asking about

We cannot guarantee that a product is suitable for a medical condition or allergy. For personalised health advice, consult a doctor, dermatologist, allergist or pharmacist.

Some products are identified by their manufacturers or suppliers as suitable for sensitive skin.

However, a sensitive-skin description does not guarantee that every person will tolerate the product. Sensitive or reactive skin can respond differently to fragrances, preservatives, botanical extracts, active ingredients and other formula components.

Review the complete ingredient list, follow the manufacturer’s directions and introduce new products carefully. See our Product Safety FAQ for additional guidance.

No cosmetic retailer or manufacturer can guarantee that a product will never cause a reaction in every person.

A product can comply with applicable safety requirements and still cause irritation or an allergic response in someone who is sensitive to one of its ingredients.

Check the product label carefully and ask a qualified healthcare professional for advice if you have a diagnosed allergy, a history of serious reactions or a skin condition.

Not necessarily.

Irritation and allergic contact dermatitis can cause similar symptoms, but they are not the same. Burning, dryness, redness, itching, swelling or discomfort can have several possible causes.

LUXX COSMETIC cannot diagnose a skin reaction. Stop using the product and seek advice from a doctor, dermatologist or pharmacist if you are concerned.

Clinical patch testing performed by a healthcare professional can help investigate contact allergies.

These terms may be used for a fragrance or aromatic composition containing several fragrance materials.

Certain fragrance allergens must also be listed individually when the applicable labelling requirements and concentration thresholds are met.

If you have a known fragrance allergy or sensitivity, do not rely only on the word “parfum.” Review the complete ingredient list and consult a healthcare professional where appropriate.

A fragrance-free product may be helpful for customers who prefer to avoid added perfume, but it can still contain other ingredients that may cause irritation or an individual reaction.

Always review the complete ingredient list rather than relying on one product description or characteristic.

These descriptions provide information about how a manufacturer has designed, assessed or positioned a product.

They do not guarantee that:

  • No allergic reaction can occur
  • The product is suitable for every skin condition
  • The product cannot irritate sensitive skin
  • The product will never contribute to blocked pores
  • The same results will occur for every person

Review the formula and usage instructions and consider professional advice if you have significant sensitivities or an existing skin condition.

We cannot determine this safely for you.

Cosmetic ingredients can have different sources and levels of processing, and a food allergy does not automatically establish whether a cosmetic product is suitable for topical use.

Do not rely on the ingredient name alone. Check the product packaging and contact the manufacturer or a qualified allergist or healthcare professional for product-specific advice.

Our ingredient-library pages may mention possible ingredient sources, but these pages cannot confirm the source used in a particular product or batch.

Follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer.

Some products may recommend or require a specific compatibility or allergy-alert test. Hair dyes and other specialised products can have their own testing procedure and timing, which must be followed exactly.

A small-area compatibility check cannot guarantee that a later reaction will not occur, and it is not the same as medical patch testing performed by a healthcare professional.

Do not test products on broken, irritated or inflamed skin unless the manufacturer specifically directs you to do so.

Follow the product instructions and introduce one new product at a time where practical.

Starting several new products simultaneously can make it difficult to identify which product is causing irritation or discomfort.

Do not use a product more frequently or in a larger amount than directed. Stop or reduce use if the instructions permit and you experience irritation. Seek professional advice if symptoms are significant, persistent or worsening.

Compatibility depends on the complete products, their strengths, how frequently they are used and your individual skin.

Using several exfoliating acids, retinoids, acne ingredients or other intensive products together may increase dryness or irritation.

Our Beauty Ingredient Library can help you understand individual ingredients, but it cannot create a personalised routine or confirm that two particular products are suitable together.

Follow the manufacturers’ instructions or ask a dermatologist or pharmacist for personalised advice.

Check the product label, warnings and manufacturer’s guidance before use.

Some products or active ingredients may not be recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Suitability can also depend on the product type, concentration and how it is used.

LUXX COSMETIC cannot provide individual medical approval. Ask your doctor, midwife, dermatologist or pharmacist before using a product when you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Do not rely solely on an ingredient-library article or a general product description for this decision.

Use a product on a child only when it is intended for the child’s age group and the manufacturer’s instructions allow it.

Follow all age restrictions, warnings and supervision requirements shown on the product.

Products intended for adults, concentrated active treatments, hair dyes, fragrances and certain beauty tools may not be appropriate for children. Ask a doctor or pharmacist when you are uncertain.

Keep cosmetics, fragrances and personal-care products out of reach of children unless they are specifically designed for supervised child use.

Yes, some products in our assortment are identified as vegan by their manufacturer or supplier.

Vegan status is product-specific. A brand may sell both vegan and non-vegan products, and formulas can change.

Check the characteristics and ingredient information on the product page and packaging. Contact us through our Contact page if you need help verifying the available information for a particular product.

We do not describe every product in our assortment as cruelty-free.

LUXX COSMETIC is a retailer and does not manufacture or conduct animal testing on the products we sell. Brand policies, ingredient sourcing and activity outside the EU can differ.

The EU has bans concerning animal testing for cosmetic purposes and the marketing of cosmetics tested for those purposes. However, this does not automatically mean that every international brand can be given the same global cruelty-free description.

Rely on a cruelty-free claim only when it is specifically stated and supported for the relevant product or brand.

Not necessarily.

Natural, botanical, organic and clean-beauty descriptions do not guarantee that a product will be suitable for sensitive or allergy-prone skin.

Plant extracts, essential oils, fragrances and naturally derived ingredients can still cause irritation or individual allergic reactions.

Review the complete formula and choose products according to your own known sensitivities rather than assuming that a natural ingredient is automatically safer.

LUXX COSMETIC sells authentic products sourced through trusted suppliers.

Our suppliers provide product and traceability information, and products are sourced for sale under applicable product, safety and labelling requirements.

Authenticity does not mean that a product is suitable for every person or incapable of causing irritation or an allergic reaction.

Read more on our Product Authenticity page.

A manufacturer may update a product’s formula, packaging, label, logo, size description or ingredient terminology.

Older and newer batches may therefore be available during a transition period. A difference does not automatically mean the product is inauthentic.

Compare the complete product name, size, barcode, batch details and ingredient list. Contact us through our Contact page before use if you believe you received an incorrect product.

You can also read our Product Authenticity page.

Stop using the product.

Follow any removal or rinsing instructions provided on the product. Seek advice from a doctor, pharmacist or dermatologist if symptoms are persistent, worsening, painful, involve the eyes or cause concern.

Call your local emergency services immediately if you experience symptoms of a severe reaction, such as difficulty breathing, swelling of the tongue or throat, difficulty swallowing, faintness or rapidly worsening symptoms.

Once your immediate health needs have been addressed, contact us through our Contact page.

Please provide:

  • Your order number
  • Complete product name
  • Brand, size and variant
  • When and how the product was used
  • A description of the reaction
  • When the symptoms began
  • Photos of the product and packaging
  • A clear photo of the ingredient list
  • Barcode or EAN
  • Batch or lot number
  • Expiry date or period-after-opening symbol, where shown

Keep the product and packaging unless a healthcare professional or authority tells you otherwise.

Do not send private medical records through the standard contact form unless we specifically request appropriate information through a suitable process.

Not automatically.

An individual reaction can occur even when a product is authentic, correctly manufactured and compliant with applicable requirements.

However, contact us through our Contact page if you believe the product is contaminated, incorrectly labelled, damaged, expired, altered or otherwise defective.

We will review the available information and advise you about the appropriate next step.

Opened or tested cosmetics, skincare, haircare, fragrances and other hygiene-sensitive products normally cannot be returned as a standard change-of-mind return.

Do not open or test a product if you are uncertain about an ingredient and wish to preserve your standard return options.

A faulty, damaged, incorrect or non-compliant product is handled separately. Contact us before returning it.

See our Refund Policy and Goods & Refunds FAQ for complete information.

We can help you find published product descriptions, ingredient information and products identified by their manufacturers for particular skin types or cosmetic concerns.

We cannot diagnose a condition, prescribe treatment or guarantee that a product is medically suitable.

Speak with a doctor, dermatologist or pharmacist before using a new product if you have an active skin condition, are receiving medical treatment or have previously experienced significant reactions.

Do not use the product until you have checked the ingredient list printed on the product or packaging.

Contact us through our Contact page and include:

  • The product-page link
  • Product name and size
  • A screenshot of the online information
  • Photos of the product and packaging
  • A clear photo of the physical ingredient list
  • Barcode and batch number

We will review the information and correct the product page where appropriate.
