How to do a salon-style manicure at home

  1. Remove old polish and shape your nails with a file.
  2. Soften and gently push back the cuticles.
  3. Wipe the nails to remove oils, then apply a base coat.
  4. Apply two thin coats of colour and let each one dry.
  5. Seal with a top coat and finish with cuticle oil.

Polish or gel?

Classic polish is quick to apply and easy to change. Gel-effect polishes give extra shine and longer wear without a lamp, while true semi-permanent gel polish is cured under an LED or UV lamp and lasts for weeks. Whichever you choose, a good base and top coat make the biggest difference.
